we can choose to
1 be angry about it and rant and vent and curse and scream
2 be fed up and say rude things about others
3 mope and whine and sulk
4 just accept it and move on
really...when i was younger, the first 3 would have been my method of reacting to any situation that does not go the way i planned...age certainly has a mellowing effect on some of us.
i was planning to go to perth for my niece's wedding on 3rd july and returning on youth day. she is my only niece and i have been praying for this day for years as i wanted her to be happily settled down. Its such a special occassion for me and i know they want me to be there as they have no other relatives who are attending.
As a civil servant, we are required to get the permission of our bosses when we leave the country. Now, with the H1N1 problem, my leave has been cancelled. It's a huge disappointment for the family as we have been planning surprises and so much more for her.
But, as I have told my children, we need to look at things sensibly and calmly...crap happens...and disappointment is inevitable....don't look to blame others or rant...
THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON...WE MAY NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM OR FORESIGHT TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS HAPPENING.... SO WE SHOULD JUST DEAL WITH IT
AND WE ARE NOW LOOKING FOR ALTERNATIVES...
THESE WERE THE SUGGESTIONS TAT WERE THROWN UP IN OUR FAMILY DISCUSSION
1 JUST GO SECRETLY WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE...LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES NOT CONSIDERED
2 WRITE IN TO MOE TO COMPLAIN .... LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES NOT CONSIDERED
3 GO BEFORE THE WEDDING AND COME BACK BEFORE THE HOLIDAY ENDS WHAT'S THE POINT?
4 SEND ONLY CHILDREN - THEY DO NOT WANT TO BE QUARANTINED WHEN THEY RETURN
5 FINALLY, THANKS TO TECHNOLOGY, WE HAVE DECIDED ON ATTENDING THE WEDDING, VIRTUALLY...WE PLAN TO DRESS UP AND SET UP OUR OWN DINNER TABLE AND GET MY BROTHER, WHO IS ATTENDING...TO SKYPE US SO THAT WE WILL GET TO BE THERE ...... IN SPIRIT
NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION....MEANING...When people really need to do something, they will figure out a way to do it.
