this was written for my 2008 batch



my dear students

i have taught you for about one and a half months...i have not come down hard on you when you use crude language in class - simply because, just like you. i was testing the waters.... this happens every year...the more i keep quiet...the more you push the envelope...first its the equivalent of faeces, then its about illegitimate children, then it quickly escalates into carnal relations and some unmentionable sign language.....to me, such behaviour is unacceptable and cannot be condoned. It reflects a degree of immaturity and lack of self control.....there are some social settings where certain behavioour cannot be controlled...boys' night out. soccer match.... but surely in a classroom setting, you should have the common sense to KNOW YOUR LIMITS....it's unfortunate that i have to - every year - tell you that it is unacceptable behaviour before you draw the line...

TODAYS LESSON

JUST BECAUSE A TEACHER KEEPS QUIET WHEN SOMETHING UNACCEPTABLE /UNTOWARD HAPPENS....DOES NOT MEAN SHE IS COMFORTABLE/HAPPY/CONDONES IT.... would you use these words in front of your boss, superior?...

this is dedicated to the few whose main vocabulary consists of expletives and sexual innuendos....

for the rest....thank god you have your wits about you....you have passed the test with flying colours...

for those who failed the test, all is not lost....like i said ....bad choices are easily forgiven.....

i am not saying you should nt use expletives...like there was one boy whom i taught about ten years ago - who told me - mrs logan sometimes there is no word more effective than the F word when we need to get a point across......

as long as you know your LIMITS... in the classroom
